MTV Europe is an German, French and Italian is "Viacom Music and Entertainment Group" unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom, of which it is a subsidiary. The channel itself is headquartered in Europe.

MTV Germany[]

is a 24-hour German-speaking entertainment channel operated by MTV Networks Europe. The channel was launched as MTV Networks Europe began to localize its brand throughout Europe in 1997. MTV Germany (previously MTV Central) was launched on March 7, 1997. The channel was set up to counteract strong competition from former rival VIVA.

MTV Italia[]

MTV Italia is the Italian-speaking version of the popular 24-hour music and youth entertainment channel. MTV was available free-to-air across Italy unlike its sister channels elsewhere in Europe. The channel launched free-to-air on September 1, 1997 and moved to digital terrestrial on September 14, 2009. On September 16, 2015 the Italian MTV8 was rebranded as Rete A the newly launched MTV Next (from Viacom) is only available on Sky Italia as part of a subscription package. The Viacom-owned channel MTV Music (Italia) remains available free to air on TMC 2 digital terrestrial.

MTV France[]

MTV France, is a 24-hour French-speaking entertainment channel operated by Viacom International Media Networks Europe. The channel was launched as MTV Networks Europe began to further localize its brand throughout Europe. MTV France (previously MTVF) was launched in June 20, 2000 in France.[1] The channel serves the French-speaking world including Belgium (French-speaking areas), Switzerland (French-speaking areas), Monaco and Africa (French-speaking areas), Morocco on cable. Though, it is not available in Québec.

Its headquarters are based at Viacom International Media Networks Europe in London with a local office at MTV Networks France inParis.
